Full Alloy Wheel Refurbishment

Alloy wheels are one of the key contributors to the look of your car. The look of an expensive new set of alloys can often be achieved by alloy wheel refurbishment of your exisiting wheels. It will help preserve the value of your car as well its appearance.

Our specialist alloy wheel refurbishment service at Telford and Wolverhampton allows us to offer a same-day alloy wheel refurbishment service for single wheels or full sets, kerbed alloys or corroded alloy wheels, supplied on the vehicle or off and with easy to understand, fixed pricing.

alloy wheels

The Process:

1. Where alloy wheels are fitted to the vehicle, we remove the wheels (on a scissor lift, NOT axle stands or jacks)

2. Where tyres are fitted, we deflate and break the front bead

3. Repair scratches on kerbed alloy wheels

4. Remove all the flaking paint

5. Media blast to remove corrosion to bare alloy and etch the wheel

6. Prime, wet-sprayed finish of the customer’s choice, and clearcoat in the spraybooth

7. Low-temperature bake, final finish and refit (as needed)

This process ensures the most thorough preparation of the wheel, and hence durability of the finish, without the added expense and inconvenience of full tyre removal, refitting and rebalancing.

Where wheels are presented with extensive corrosion, or have been previously refurbished with a non-standard finish, a same-day service may not be possible, but in these circumstances we will be pleased to honour our standard fixed prices.

Customer notes:

We do not repair dented or torn alloy wheels, and recommend that wheels that have been damaged in this way are replaced, not put back into service on the road.

Polished and lacquered, and turned and lacquered finishes are inherently flawed. The very regular polished or turned alloy surface provides a very small surface area for the clearcoat to stick to, which is why these finishes fail so quickly – even from the factory – with the characteristic milky mottling of lacquer lifting and alloy corrosion. As a result we recommend that wheels are spray finished for longer lasting results.

Corrosion removes material from the wheel, and the longer the wheel is allowed to corrode, the more aluminium will turn to oxide and leave a pit in the surface. Where the surface of the wheel has been deeply pitted by corrosion, it may not be possible to restore a true profile as the amount of material that can be safely removed from the wheel, and the maximum build of primer that can be applied to fill in lows both have limits. We will achieve the best repair possible for customers presenting corroded wheels – the sooner the refurbishment is carried out, the better this will be.

We can normally carry out repairs on a same day basis. Simply call us on 01952 677785 for Telford or 01902 422334 for Wolverhampton or pop in to see how we can help.
